About

Frank Charlton with camera and headphones on location

I’ve spent most of my life working with sound. First in recording studios, then inside the modern rechnology that carries it around the globe. I studied audio engineering and music production Berklee, spent my early 20s making records in Los Angeles, and found my way into the software and hardware world at Sonos in its earlier days.

In the beginning my goal was continuing to persue creative work while finally having a stable paycheck as a music school grad. My world quickly became technical - networking infrastructure, software development, integrations with global partners, understanding complex data structures. I was able to build and excell in skillsets I never dreamed of in school. But my heart kept pulling me back toward creativity being the main driver of my work, not the side project I squeezed into weekends.

Now I’m on the Kitsap Peninsula exploring the the work I care about most. I’m taking on creative audio/video work again, and building out a few services to offer my local community. I occasionally take on consulting work to help organization make sense of their data, or develop custom software solutions - I love a puzzle, and a problem to solve.

What I’m looking for is honest, collaborative, interesting work with people who care about what they’re making. The budget or skillset I get to excercise does not matter much to me. The intention does.

The thing that has stayed the same through all of it is this: I am happiest when I am helping someone else make their thing real. I have made records in hotel rooms and in studios that cost more than most houses, and the work I cared about most was the same in both places.

If any of that sounds like your world, I would like to hear from you.
